What Is Blepharoplasty? A Rejuvenating Eyelid Surgery
/
As you age, your skin begins to lose its elasticity, leaving you with wrinkles, sagging, and puffiness around your face. Your eyelids are no exception. Excess skin and fat around the eyelids can make your eyes look tired and even affect your vision. Blepharoplasty is a form of plastic surgery that eases these signs of aging to give your eyes a smoother, more youthful appearance.
Types of Blepharoplasty Surgery Available in Sidney
Upper Eyelid
A sagging upper eyelid can make you look aged and affect your vision. During an upper eyelid blepharoplasty, one of our doctors will make an incision along your natural crease and remove excess tissue. Tightening the skin will prevent your eyelid from drooping into your field of vision and rejuvenate your appearance.
Lower Eyelid
Puffy bags under your eyes can make you look tired. During a lower eyelid blepharoplasty, one of our doctors will make an incision just below your lash line to remove excess tissue, tighten the skin, and improve the natural contours. This gives your eyes a more alert and youthful appearance.
Beautiful Results Provided in Total Comfort Request a Consultation to Get Started
Even if you're excited to refresh your appearance with blepharoplasty, the thought of having surgery performed on your eyelids may make you feel a bit nervous. This is completely understandable, but know that you have nothing to fear when you work with our eye care offices in Sidney, Bellefontaine, Celina, and Troy. You will receive general anesthesia for your surgical procedure to ensure your total comfort.
When the effects of the anesthesia wear off, you'll have no memory of the procedure, and a friend or loved one can drive you home after a very short recovery period in our office.
If you have questions about the other steps we can take to keep you comfortable while we rejuvenate your eyelids, please request a consultation today. You can contact us online or call:

Will Insurance Cover Eyelid Surgery?
Your insurance provider may cover blepharoplasty if the excess skin on your eyelids significantly obstructs your field of vision. Keep in mind that upper lid blepharoplasty is more commonly covered than lower lid surgery. Additionally, if your upper lid or lower lid surgery is for purely cosmetic purposes, it won't be covered.
We accept most insurance plans, and a member of our Sidney team will be glad to help you determine whether your surgery is covered, and file a claim on your behalf.
If you are uninsured, receiving purely cosmetic surgery, or have high out-of-pocket costs, financing can help. We accept several forms of financing that allow you to split the cost of your surgical procedure into affordable monthly payments.
What to Expect During the Blepharoplasty Procedure
Eyelid surgery is an outpatient procedure typically completed in just one to two hours. Each patient needs to have someone with them who can drive them to and from the medical center. We have an eye care office in Sidney, as well as offices in Bellefontaine, Celina, and Troy, which makes care convenient for people throughout West Central Ohio.
Blepharoplasty is a highly customized plastic surgery tailored to your unique needs.
